Explorer Challengers

  With the support, direction and guidance of Unit leaders, Explorer Scouts are encouraged to lead themselves, design their own programme and work towards the top awards that Scouting offers. With exciting prospects like being a part of camps and expeditions both home and abroad; adventurous activities such as mountaineering, parascending and offshore sailing; Explorers offers fun and adventure for all. 

Explorer Scouts are the final section for our young people aged between 14 and 18 years.

We have two Explorer Units across the Island, and all are open to new members from any background, whether or not you’ve been involved in Scouting before you can join one of our Units.

Explorer Scouting strives to be flexible. We know that life is busy due to the other commitments that crop up particularly around exam time and we feel it is essential that the programme reflects this. Units may not meet every week during busier months, but we will always aim to provide a fun and challenging programme of events.

Activities

In addition to lots of fun activities, there are a number of badges and ambitious top awards that Explorer Scouts can gain to recognise their achievements, in particular, we encourage our Explorers to earn the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and Queen Scouts Award.
