Bailiwick of Guernsey Scouts

9th (St Peters) Scout Group

Located in the South West corner of our beautiful Island the 9th (St Peters) group is a hub of activity and takes an active part in the community of the Western parishes.

Meeting at the Styx Community Centre there is an abundance of facilities to enjoy along with the open spaces of the coast and rural countryside.

Squirrels

Squirrels is a new section that was launched in the U.K. in September 2021 and in Guernsey in April 2022. It is designed to help the youngest members of our community to gain skills for life at a time when it matters the most and they are rapidly learning about the world around them.

Squirrel Scouts is open to all young people aged between four and six years who want to achieve anything they set their minds to – and they have lots of fun along the way.

Beavers

Beavers is open to all young people aged between six and eight years old who want to make friends and have fun. Beavers follow a balanced programme giving young people an opportunity to personally develop in all areas, learning to be safe and most importantly making friends. The leaders ensure that all Beavers cover and experience a whole range of exciting activities.

Cubs

Cub Scouting is available to all young people between the ages of 8 and 10½ years old who want to join the adventure.

Cub Scouts meet together as a Pack in ‘Sixes’ (small groups) which is run by a team of adult volunteers and assisted by parent helpers.

Scouts

Available to all young people aged between 10½ and 14 years old who want to join the Scouting adventure.

Scouts meet together as a Troop in ‘Patrols’ (small groups). A Scout called a Patrol Leader leads the Patrol and the Patrol Leaders work with a team of volunteers and assisted by parent helpers, in setting the programme and in decisions affecting the Troop. The Patrol system is one of the important ways that young people can take responsibility for themselves and others.
