Why get involved?

Cubs gives young people a ‘taster’ of the exciting activities they will do more of in Scouts and enjoy themselves whatever they are doing!

Cub Scouts meet together as a Pack in ‘Sixes’ (small groups) which is run by a team of adult
volunteers and assisted by parent helpers.

They wear a green sweatshirt, group neckerchief (scarf) and a woggle (which keeps their scarf together). The woggle will normally be of the colour of the six they are in. Some packs use characters from Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’, as an inspiration for the names of leaders, such as Akela, Shere Khan and Baloo to name a few.

By making the promise and following the Cub Scout Law, which is common to every section and acts as a link with the family of Scouts around the world and is an important act in Scouting.

The Cub Scout Promise is:

I PROMISE THAT I WILL DO MY BEST
TO DO MY DUTY TO GOD AND TO THE QUEEN,
TO HELP OTHER PEOPLE
AND TO KEEP THE CUB SCOUT LAW.

The Cub Scout Law is:

CUB SCOUTS ALWAYS DO THEIR BEST,
THINK OF OTHERS BEFORE THEMSELVES
AND DO A GOOD TURN EVERYDAY.

The Motto for all members of the movement is:

BE PREPARED.
